Altered States showcases works by eight urban contemporary artists based in the UK. The artists featured in Altered States are: D.A.N.T.E., David Shillinglaw, Florence Blanchard, Kid Acne, Lily Mixe, Skeleton Cardboard, Sr.X and Victoria Villasana. The exhibition has been curated by Olly Walker.
By its nature art concerns transition and transformation. Ideas and emotions transform from impulses to physical images. Substances are transformed when rendered on surfaces, liquids become solids and colours merge. Similarly, artists find themselves living within a society that is constantly changing and presenting them with new challenges and opportunities.
The UK is home to a community of diverse artists. Some were borne in the UK and others were drawn to it; but all continue to explore artistic ideas as the nation evolves. Altered States showcases the output of a selection of British-based urban contemporary artists working today.

I created a mini version of the ‘Snake Charmer’ in collaboration with the National Fairground Archive. Black on gold card, all printed by hand at B&B screenprinting studio in Sheffield this mini print is embossed, signed and numbered on the front and the edition size is 150. This print edition was physically included in exactly 100 of the very special NFA20 fine print limited edition box set. A bit like the golden ticket in the chocolate bars but with much much much more chances to get it (50/50 to be exact -there are 200 box sets). For more information about the box set please contact the NFA.
Last Thursday was great. Thanks to everyone who made it to the opening at B&B. The exhibition continues until Nov 30, on view by appointment during the week or 12-6pm on Saturdays. For any information about the work please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Just this week opened MARVELOSA a new exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of The National Fairground Archive. 5 artists including myself were commissioned to work around material available at the archive. MARVELOSA is on view until January 8 2015 at The Western Bank Library at The University Of Sheffield. It’s been an absolute pleasure working on this.
