SITE GALLERY LAUNCHES BOUNCE! BY FLORENCE BLANCHARD, A LARGESCALE INSTALLATION IN SITE SQUARE, BROWN STREET, S1 2BS.
Sheffield-based artist Florence Blanchard is known internationally for her work transforming city spaces with her signature style of flowing, amorphous shapes in bright colours. Working in partnership with playground paint specialist Uniplay she has transformed an area 1000 sqm into a vibrant, playful focal point for the Cultural Industries Quarter in a landmark project that can be freely accessed by anyone.
Judith Harry, Executive Director of Site Gallery, said:
“The impact of Florence’s work is remarkable. It has added a whole new dimension to the public realm around Site Gallery and is a wonderful addition to a series of public artworks we have commissioned in the area over the past couple of years. Florence has recognised the untapped potential of the square and created an environment which celebrates the creativity of the cultural industries quarter”
The project was commissioned through City of Ideas – an Arts Council England Ambition for Excellence funded programme which was led by Site Gallery on behalf of a consortia of Sheffield arts organisations based in the Cultural Industries Quarter.

To celebrate this project I produced a print edition inspired by the design of the square. The print is available on my online shop.
I just came back from London where I spent a week working on an indoor mural for a private commission. As the design was going to cover the entire surface of one wall, and the rest of the room being already full with art we decided to go for a limited colour palette.
Back in the summer I had the very unique experience to create a 3D installation for ITV. The piece was used to film an Ident that was shown in September as part of ITV Creates artist series. The ident is viewable in the UK on ITV’s website: https://www.itv.com/itvcreates/september/florence-blanchard
Here is my contribution to Parisian agency Costume 3 Pieces’ annual summer show ‘TOUS A TABLE’, which took place this month. Artworks from 32 artists around the theme of dining on display in the agency’s offices + a feast.

It took several weeks in the making and it is my biggest print project to date (100cm x 70cm). ANAPHASE screenprint edition comes in 2 colour ways: RED or BLUE, which are respectively 8 and 6 colours super limited editions on high end 300 gsm Fabriano paper. Both were hand-printed by me in my home studio in Sheffield and are now available from Nelly Duff gallery at 156 Columbia road in East London or online HERE.
Last week and last chance to check out the summer group show at Stolenspace gallery in London.
StolenSpace Gallery is delighted to present, ‘Wish You Were Here’, an eclectic showcase featuring original works from 40 leading urban contemporary artists.
Prompted with the prototypical postcard sentiment, each artist reimagines the phrase and translates it into their own visual language – setting their work in conversation with the many other creative minds featured in the show. Whereas some choose to uphold the typical associations of travel and summer vacation, others select less conventional interpretations, such as unrequited love, detachment and separation. The result of this variation offers a genuine overview of the vast and consistently increasing diversity of urban artists working cross the globe today – a diversity with StolenSpace is honoured to represent.
